This exciting initiative expands DSCLT's mission of promoting German language proficiency, cultural appreciation, and academic excellence beyond the traditional classroom. The NAWL German Debate Club will provide students with an engaging opportunity to strengthen their German speaking skills while developing confidence in public speaking, critical thinking, and persuasive communication.
Students will debate a wide range of topics—from current events and environmental issues to history, technology, and German culture—all while communicating in German. Through structured debates, participants will enhance their vocabulary, improve fluency, learn to formulate and defend arguments, and gain a deeper understanding of the cultures and perspectives of the German-speaking world.
"Our goal is to create authentic opportunities for students to use German in meaningful ways," said the leadership of the German School of Charlotte. "The German Debate Club encourages students to think critically, communicate confidently, and develop skills that will benefit them throughout their academic and professional lives."
The German School of Charlotte looks forward to working closely with the students, faculty, and families of the North Academy of World Languages to build a vibrant and inspiring German debate program that celebrates language, culture, and global citizenship.
